Hours after the taxing ascent you experience the moment that
makes you realise everything has been worth it. You are on the
summit, sweaty and out of breath, and enjoy the view of the
mountain tops. You feel the infinite scope up here. Mountaineers
have almost limitless opportunities to do just that at the
farther end of the Zillertal.

Alpine wilderness
Mayrhofen-Hippach is located at the foot of the Alpine
natural preserve "Zillertaler Alpen", the entrance to
a pristine and extraordinary mountain landscape. In the
preserve, public roads, helicopter flights and ski lifts are not
allowed at all. The area, which was already known as
"Zillertaler Hauptkamm", has been specially protected
since 1991. The year 2001 saw the conferment of the special
attribute "natural preserve", an internationally known
preservation category.
The natural park encompasses an area of 372 km² between 1000m
and 3510m above sea level. If you want to hike through the
entire area, it will take you seven days.

Rugged scarps, glaciers and summits
Eight mountain refuges, numerous 3000-meter-tall mountains
with their rugged scarps, and a unique flora add to the
character of this alpine mountain landscape.
In addition, rare animal species have found a home here and ,
for the past 150 years, have been able to live in harmony with
hikers, mountaineers and Nature lovers.

4 good reasons
The holiday region Mayrhofen-Hippach is located in the basin
of the Zillertal's farther end, just in front of the fascinating
scenery of the natural preserve. Four tributary valleys branch
off here.

climbing, and in the Zillertal there are many opportunities for
climbing enthusiasts, whether in the climbing paradise

and around Ramsau. The owners, who are themselves enthusiastic
climbers, will be glad to advise you.
